DO YOU NOTICE?

Today I present to you 2 brand new videos - Madonna's Jump and Sugababes' Easy. If I tell you that I absolutely love one of them while the other is shite, I'm sure it's safe for you to bet that Madonna nailed it once again by producing an amazing sequel to the 'Hung Up' or 'Sorry' videos while the Babes succeeded in continuing their tradition of making some rather rubbish studio based videos.

Let's take a look at them shall we?

Madonna - Jump

Sugababes - Easy

Did you notice? Both videos are studio based.

But you might have also noticed that although both videos were filmed in a studio setting, the Easy video is FAR MORE superior than Jump.

Isn't it a wonder how a simple studio based album can work wonders as well as being a total wreck?

The Sugababes tries to be sexy. And that works. They've always had their sex appeal but they've never gone down that road like everybody else does - i.e. by showing excessive skin. They're still one classy act. Classy and quirky, that's always been the essence of the Sugababes. And actually I find this toilet themed video A) rather refreshing and B) surprisingly, NOT boring at all.

Whereas in Jump, I have to admit that showing her dancers jumping around Tokyo sounds like a cool idea, and some shots are pretty nice, BUT

1) That black room with some flashing signs and lights in which Madonna dances in is just plain pathetic. They try too hard to convince you Madonna is in Japan but it just doesn't work. When you come to think of it that's such a stupid idea - she was in Tokyo yet she's not using REAL Tokyo spots for the shot. Instead she uses a cheap pathetic looking black room which can be so easily replicated anywhere else. Use the Tokyo streets! Film a segment showing all the building that flashes and glows at night! Capture the vibrancy of Tokyo! To me all those shots with Madonna in it screams stupidity.

2) Are they on a tight budget or something? With Madonna claiming the throne of the wealthiest woman in showbiz and gaining the title of top grossing tour ever in history I suppose they can do better than just filming ONE scene, in that pathetic black room?

3) If they're trying to show the 'coolness' of Tokyo then can somebody explain why they're choosing all the places that are deserted with no people around? That's NOT Tokyo! No wonder they have to add 'Dung Ging' (=Tokyo) at the start of the video to remind you that it's indeed shot in Tokyo.

4) It'd be so much more amazing if Madonna joins her dancers and really 'jump' in the video, don't you think? You can just pretend and you know we'll all forgive you.

5) All in all the video looks amateurish, and it fails miserably in capturing the awesomeness of the song. Even Get Together is such a good video, and it's only a production based on her live performance clips.

6) This can be her worst video ever. Unless you want a battle between 'Jump' and 'Love Don't Live Here Anymore', in which she's making out with a stone column.

And this is just depressing because I have so many brilliant ideas in mind and it's just too easy to make a good video for a song like Jump yet somebody like Jonas Akerlund is allowed to screw it up, and I can only vent on this sad little blog thinking if only she'd hire me to direct the video etc etc I could make it look 1000 times better plus the money would've gone to the right hands and I could be rich...
